Brainstorm Ideas
Brainstorm Ideas for WAHM Niche BusinessesYou can fit in building a business from home, even if you are a busy Mom. People world-wide are surfing the Net seeking information and solutions that YOU may be able to provide... AND earn income from! Here is a partial list of countries from which folks have visited Erin's site about organizing...
home-organize-it.com
and Jen's site about puppies...
favorite-puppy-names.com.
We had never even heard of some of these countries! Canada New Zealand (Aotearoa) United States Malaysia United Kingdom Brazil Spain Netherlands Cocos (Keeling) Islands Germany Guatemala Norway Seychelles Turkey And here they were... people like us, from around the world, looking for ways to organize their homes or name their puppies! Take a moment to picture yourself sharing about a favorite interest with others online and earing income from it! When we started building our first sites
we were excited to be able to reach folks in other towns and states (We're from USA). We never even considered those in Bulgaria, Canada, England, etc.! Yet, here they were, people from everywhere visiting our own Web sites. See how it works?
Now if you’re head is spinning because of all of the online opportunities you have just realized that you have, we know just how you feel! Consider this.
Erin says... I’m fairly organized, able to focus pretty well (as long as I’ve had 5 straight hours sleep the night before ;) and disciplined. Yet, in the first year of building
homeorganizeit.com
, I got sidetracked A LOT.
Jen says... And me? Not only am I NOT well-organized, but I need a lot more than five hours of sleep a night. So imagine what a tough time I had filtering out all the junk being pitched to me on the Internet. Yes, there is a lot of free, valuable information out there on building a successful WAHM business...but how do you cut the wheat from the chaff? And more importantly, how do you stay focused when you have fun stuff like blogs, forums, and email to check every 30 seconds?
The Internet provides endless opportunities. However, it also provides major opportunities for distraction. There’s e-mail, audio, visual, and on and on. Not a week went by that something didn’t grab our attention and soon thereafter we found ourselves wondering if maybe we should have done this or that instead.
Herein lies the warning…You will need to make great effort to keep your eyes on your goals when working online. You can lose hours and even days if you don’t set up and follow some boundaries. For more on this, see the
Tips & Strategies
Page for staying on course.
Narrowing Choices After You Brainstorm Ideas
Ideally, you should narrow your brainstorm ideas down to your favorite three. Remember, ultimately you will only choose one idea. Then assuming you will want to earn income from your online business, you will need to find out supply and demand as well as profit potential for your ideas. This information will help make your decision making easier.
To build
homeorganizeit.com
and
favorite-puppy-names.com
we use
Site Build It! (SBI!)
which is an all-in-one, do-it-yourself site building and marketing software product. One of the amazing modules that comes with SBI! is their Brainstorming Tool. Although you can easily brainstorm ideas on your own, finding which have high demand and low supply, and high profit potential is a bit trickier, as well as very time consuming, unless you have a powerful Brainstorming Tool like this.
A Bit About How It Works
Let's give you a glimpse of how it works. Don’t worry, there’s no need to be a tech geek. It’s kind of like using TIVO. You may not be sure why it does what it does or how, but you’re sure glad it does! With SBI!’s Brainstorming Tool, you type in one of your ideas known as a keyword, click a button and it goes out to the internet gathering all the information available related to the keyword you entered. Within minutes a list appears on your screen consisting of related searches done on your keyword for the past month on a major Search Engine such as Yahoo. This list may be short or long, depending on whether your keyword was general or specific. For example... Homes: generates tons of keywords
Log Homes: generates less keywords, more specific After you have this list, you do the same with your other 2 brainstorm ideas and print out all the results and study them. Is one idea starting to pull ahead of the other two? See how fun this can be? Continuing with the Brainstorming Tool, you enter your three ideas/keywords separately to get supply, then to get demand and finally to get profit potential. Print these results off and study them as well. Soon you will uncover an exciting topic that you either know and love OR want to learn and share everything you can about. You will be sure to discover some that have just what you need to get started. Make sure... - You love the idea
- The niche has a high demand (for info)
- It has a low supply (of Web sites with this info)
- Has high profit potential :-)
Please keep in mind that this explanation is VERY basic. The SBI! Brainstorming Tool is quite powerful, yet we don’t want to bog you down with too much information at this point. The idea here is for you to grasp the concepts to see if you might want to pursue this further. Once you decide you would like greater detail and explanation, download and read the
Site Build It! Action Guide
(free download).
That’s it! Brainstorm ideas offline and online. Look for what you know and love because your chance for success will increase dramatically if you build a business around something you are interested in. Make a decision based on all of your research and keep moving forward.
One More Thing...
There are so many niches online that it boggles the mind. In order to keep from getting stuck in the “what should I do?” cycle, stick with what you already know and love when you brainstorm ideas.
The knowledge and information business is HUGE on the internet. To understand exactly why this is true, please read about why content sites are the sites most searched for and also the ones that are earning income. It’s all explained here in
Ken Evoy’s CTPM Process.
And now it’s time to...Build That Niche!
