About UsWondering about us? We're Erin and Jen, long time friends (in Internet years anyway) and Joint Venture partners on several projects. At first we found it hard to write about ourselves and then we had an idea. We'd write about each other! First, please meet Jen... Before Jen became a Web Designer she had a variety of work experiences, most notably with her father's law firm. Jen always enjoyed the creative aspects of business, over other work duties. As her family grew, it became increasingly challenging to work outside the home. Jen started looking for work with more flexible hours. While she was on a five (!) month bed rest with her fourth child, she spent some of the long hours researching how to work online and jumped into affiliate marketing with her first web site. Though Jen's first site wasn't a super success, she was hooked. After a brief foray into Internet auctions, she discovered Site Build It! and built a Web site about puppies... Favorite Puppy Names. A year later, Jen's puppy site was receiving thousands of monthly visitors and she was earning a nice monthly income from it. That's when Jen decided her real passion was designing and building web sites. Now, please meet Erin... Erin owned a small residential organizing business and was looking for more effective ways to market her local biz. After researching everything from expensive (but ineffective) yellow page ads to mail order advertising, she decided to build a Web site for her home organizing business. After reading a book about how to Market a Local Service Business with a Web site, Erin built Home Organize It!. Once her Web site building was underway, Erin realized she liked building her site better than doing her offline business! Initially, homeorganizeit.com was intended to bring new clients to her organizing business, which it did quite well. Yet, as Erin learned more about how to market her business with her Web site, she also discovered how to add other income streams by selling organizing products (affiliate marketing), referrring related services and adding Google Adsense. Erin is also active in her church and is acquainted with many moms there. She was surprised when she discovered that many of these moms (who really wanted to stay home with their children) didn't know about the opportunities the Internet provided for earning extra income from home. That's when Erin decided to build this site... ... with the intention of sharing all the information she had learned while researching building an income earning Web site. How Erin and Jen met and teamed up... Both Jen and Erin use Site Build It! to build Web sites. SBI! is an all-in-one web site building, hosting and marketing system for small and home-based businesses. SBI! also has an extremely active forum where SBI! owners get and give help to each other while they build their online businesses. Early on, Jen and Erin each became frequent SBI! forum visitors. In May, 2006 a mom posted to the forum and made the suggestion that Site Build It! is perfect for moms who want to work at home while raising their children. This mom felt that moms around the world would benefit by knowing about SBI! but unless they were online, wouldn't hear about it. Jen and Erin agreed and contributed to this post which developed into 57 pages of exciting, passion-driven ideas from hundreds of moms around the world. Ken Evoy,creator of Site Build It!, decided that these moms were right. SBI! was not only an ideal web site solution for small business owners, but for other audiences as well, including Work At Home Moms (WAHM's). What followed was a invitation from Ken to moms (who had posted to this forum thread) asking if anyone might be interested in writing an e-book geared toward moms who wanted to build an online business using Site Build It!. The e-book would be available as a free download which moms could share with other moms they knew in their neighborhoods, communities, mom-groupd, churches, etc. Erin and Jen were both accepted for the project (along with two others) which later became...
